BMW electric scooter C Evolution was released in Germany in May 2014 Honda participated in the European demo rental and driving tests for its electric scooter in 2012, but has not yet announced its readiness for sale.
Terra Motors, the Japanese electric kettle car, will start selling electric scooters in India by 2015. Egen is a UK company offering a variety of electric scooters using lithium iron phosphate batteries. UGBEST is a China-based electric scooter manufacturer that has been in operation since 2011, using lithium iron phosphate batteries. The company acquired Ecobit SRL electric scooter factory in 2013, including WMI and facilities.
In 2016, EcoKargo was formed exclusively to manufacture electric delivery scooters. Sincero Cars launched the Sincero B6 electric scooter in Trivandrum, India in October 2018. The Sincero B6 does not need a registration or license, and from 2 hours of charging the scooter will walk about 100 km. KTM manufactures all electric off-road bikes in the E-Series Freeride. Avera, India based electric scooter manufacturing company, offering two models of scooters at the end of December 2018.

There are several experimental prototypes using fuel cells technology. ENV developed by Intelligent Energy is a hydrogen fuel cell prototype. The motorcycle has a range of 100 miles (160 km) and can reach a maximum speed of 50 miles per hour (80 km/h).
Suzuki has also developed a hydrogen fuel cell scooter based on Suzuki Burgman. Yamaha has created a hydrogen fuel cell prototype called FC-Aqel, which is considered equivalent to 125cc vehicle. Honda has also developed a hydrogen fuel cell scooter that uses Honda FC Stack.

Electric and petrol motorcycles and scooters of the same size and weight are roughly comparable in performance.
